The ten photos in this collection were all created using the Pep Ventosa technique, which is one of many varieties of intentional camera movement. However, in this technique, multiple “regular” exposures are combined in computer.
Briefly, one begins by taking a series of photos in an arc or circle around the main subject. These photos are layered in Photoshop and then combined using different blending modes and opacities. A search on the Web for “Pep Ventosa Technique” will produce many “how-to” pages and YouTube videos, including Pep Ventosa’s own page: https://www.pepventosa.com/
In this collection, “Carousel,” “Vander Veer Fountain,” and “Circular Stairway” used photos taken in a complete circle around the subject; they made use of 15 to 20 individual photos. All the other images used fewer photos (often seven) and were shot through 120 to 180 degrees (that is, only part of a circle, or arc). The “Sycamore” used photos taken with a drone.
