Cypress in the Bayous By: Mark Gromko I spent a week in the bayous of Louisiana and Texas in early November. At Lake Martin near Lafayette, Louisiana, we photographed from kayaks. Floating through the early morning mist, paddling quietly among the cypress trees, I happened upon great egrets and great blue herons standing motionless in the shallow waters, waiting for fish. At Caddo Lake on the border of Texas and Louisiana we photographed from pontoon boats. Spanish moss hanging from the cypress trees, which retained the last bits of fall color, created a mystic atmosphere. Click to enlarge image
